Calumet Michigan Pasty Fest

The Pasty Fest is an annul event in the village of Calumet, MI. The activities include a horse shoe contest, a variety of vendors, free horse drawn tour and of course PASTIES!

Pasties were a mainstay meal of the miners, who built this area of Michigan.

Calumet, originally called "Red Jacket" for a Native American Chief of the Seneca Tribe, is located in the Keweenaw Peninsula on Michigan's Upper Peninsula.  The copper companies Calumet & Hecla produced more than 1/2 the US copper supply out of this area between 1871-1880.  Posted by Picasa
