Great Lakes Maritime History

On a calm evening in August, 1865, the helmsman on the Pewabic's sister ship Meteor made a tragic mistake and turned into the path of the Pewabic as they were passing each other. 35 people were lost from the Pewabic and 150 were rescued but this copper ore carrier went under rather quickly in Thunder Bay. Another ship of to add to the Lake Huron collection of lost vessels .
