Clear Creek Campground, Golden, CO

During our stays in the Denver area we like to stay at Clear Creek CG in Golden. This CG is operated by the town of Golden and is part of their park system. Our current site is backed up to the walking path and Clear Creek. We are within walking distance of downtown Golden and a nice selection of restaurants.

Clear Creek is high this time of year with the Spring run off and also extra rain this year...

If you click on above photo you maybe able to see the big "M" on Lookout Mountain. The "M" is for the Colorado School of Mines located here in Golden. Buffalo Bill Cody's Grave and Museum are located at the top of Lookout Mountain

Eisenhower Presidential Library, Museum, & Boyhood Home in Abilene, Kansas

The Eisenhower family lived in this house from 1898 until Ida Eisenhower, Ike's Mother, died in 1946. The home is located on its original site & contains furniture and items used by the family.

This is the final resting place of Dwight D. Eisenhower, Mamie Eisenhower, and their first-born son, Doud.

Born in Texas and raised in Kansas, Dwight D. Eisenhower was one of America's greatest military commanders and the thirty-fourth President of the United States. Inspired by the example of a friend who was going to the U.S. Naval Academy, Eisenhower won an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Although his mother had religious convictions that made her a pacifist, she did not try to stop Eisenhower from becoming a military officer.

Ted likes the idea that Ike got to golf with some of his times "all time greats".

Traveling West on I 70

We were with out water for several hours during pipe line repairs at Lazy Day RV Park in Danville, MO

We arrived in Abilene, KS, during a major down pour. While pulling into our site at Covered Wagon RV Park the MH got stuck in the mud.

Carthage, TN Sightseeing

FYI:  Carthage is the childhood home of former Vice President, Al Gore, so there is still remnants of his run for President....

Visit With Friends

Had a wonderful visit from friends, Arnold & Tina, who we met in Tampa at MacDill AFB. Their home is Nashville, so we caught up on their news, had lunch at the Timberloft in Carthage and did some area sightseeing.

Defeated Creek Campground (COE) near Carthage, TN

First stop, as we head west from Knoxville, was a great Corp of Engineer Park near Carthage, TN on   Cordell Hull Lake. If your ever in the area it is a great campground for a couple of nights, though it is 17 miles from I 40, so not good for just an overnight stop.
