The National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum is the only museum dedicated solely to preserving the history of the U.S. Navy SEALs and their predecessors, including the Underwater Demolition Teams, Naval Combat Demolition Units, Office of Strategic Services Maritime Units and Amphibious Scouts and Raiders. Located in Fort Pierce, Florida, birthplace of the Navy Frogman.
We spent two nights in the Fort Pierce area, so that we could visit the Navy UDT-SEAL Museum. The museum has changed a lot since our last visit. The museum is in a new much bigger building with a nice gift shop.
The origins of Navy SEALs actually began with specially organized maritime commando units during World War II, where legacy capabilities were adopted and remain embodied in today’s SEAL Teams.
The entrance to the National Navy SEAL Museum is guarded by the statue of the Naked Warrior, which specifically portrays the elite men of the U.S. Navy’s Underwater Demolition Teams of World War II. These men went into battle equipped only with swim fins, face mask, and a slate board with a led pencil on which to record intelligence gathered. Their only weapon was a K-Bar knife.
We where able look up Ted's name and service information on the roster.
