Wednesday Farmers' Market at Lakes Park Fort Myers, FL

We had a great time wandering through the Fort Myers Farmers' Market...lots to look at, sample, smell and buy!

What a great varity of vendors....

We bought fresh made salsa and guacamole here.

and Calamondin Jam here....
Calamondins fruit is also known as citrus mitis, as it is acidic in nature. This fruit was first grown in China and later it found its way to U. S. A where it was acquired the name “acid orange” as it resembles an orange. It is orange in color and slightly smaller than the normal oranges thus can be easily confused with a tangerine.

Sun Harvest Citrus

Bill, the volunteer at Lakes Park, suggested we visit the Sun Harvest Citrus location within a few blocks of Lakes Park. He said it would give us a taste of FL and he was right. As soon as you walk in their front door you smell ORANGES!

They sell quarts and gallons of fresh squeezed orange and grapefruit juice and you can watch them doing it.....

There is also a tasting station where you can get unlimited samples. It is like drinking liquid "sunshine".

The staff is very friendly and they sell Ted's favorite....ice cream! We sampled the Chocolate/Key Lime and what a treat.

Back Home to Projects

Returned home around the 1st of October to find several major repair projects waiting for us. The first was replacement of the AC/Heating system, which we think may have been effected by a power surge when the electricity came back on after Hurricane Irma.

The second was repair and replacement of the yards irrigation system. We have only been in the home for 3 years, but it was a model home for 5 years before that, so 8 years makes for a worn out and out of date system.

Our house looked like it was decorated for Christmas with all the different colored flags telling the irrigation crew what goes where..... The second stage of this repair starts next week!
