Burdines Bar & Grill and Sombrero Beach in Marathon, FL

First day in Marathon and had lunch at Burdines on the Boot Key Harbor Waterway

Grill is upstairs with great views of the waterway...

We tried the Mahi....Ted's grilled & Jan's blackened

Sombrero Beach is a beautiful Marathon City park and sandy beach. In 2001 the City redeveloped Sombrero Beach. A lovely sandy beach on the Atlantic Ocean frames a shady park with picnic pavilions, and volleyball courts.
Sombrero Beach is a turtle nesting beach. From April through October it is not unusual to have Loggerhead Turtles coming on to the beach at night to lay their eggs.

National Navy UDT-Seal Museum in Fort Pierce,FL

The National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum is the only museum dedicated solely to preserving the history of the U.S. Navy SEALs and their predecessors, including the Underwater Demolition Teams, Naval Combat Demolition Units, Office of Strategic Services Maritime Units and Amphibious Scouts and Raiders.  Located in Fort Pierce, Florida, birthplace of the Navy Frogman.

We spent two nights in the Fort Pierce area, so that we could visit the Navy UDT-SEAL Museum.  The museum has changed a lot since our last visit. The museum is in a new much bigger building with a nice gift shop.

The origins of Navy SEALs actually began with specially organized maritime commando units during World War II, where legacy capabilities were adopted and remain embodied in today’s SEAL Teams.
The entrance to the National Navy SEAL Museum is guarded by the statue of the Naked Warrior, which specifically portrays the elite men of the U.S. Navy’s Underwater Demolition Teams of World War II. These men went into battle equipped only with swim fins, face mask, and a slate board with a led pencil on which to record intelligence gathered. Their only weapon was a K-Bar knife.

We where able look up Ted's name and service information on the roster.

Winnebago Aspect 30j

We have down sized our rig! Said good bye to our 40 ft Tour this week and welcomed a 2017 Winnebago Aspect into the family. The model 30j has 3 slides and measure 32 ft.  This class of rig is considered a low profile class C or a super B.

With the health issues that Ted experienced this summer he is not able to drive. Since neither one of us wanted to give up our nomadic life style we down sized to a rig Jan is comfortable driving.

Of course, the storage is much less on the new rig.  We spent 7 days moving items from the old rig at the storage lot to the house....a car load at a time. Then parts of 3 days at the dealership moving the rest of the items over to the new rig. Boy! do we have a lot of junk.

The moving is done, but the rig is still at the dealer getting a satellite TV dish on the roof, roof vent covers, and a permanently mounted surge protector for the electrical system.

The motor is a Ford 450 (gas), but with enough power to still tow our VW Jetta. We are looking forward to our 1st trip, which will probably be to the FL Keys.
