"RAVE ON" A Buddy Holly Tribute

Circle Square Cultural Center at On Top of the World offered another great concert experience Saturday evening. Bill McGuigan and the Rave On Band presented a show that took us right back to the 50's and all the music we grow up with.

7 Bridges "The Ultimate Eagles Experience"

 7 Bridges : The Ultimate EAGLES Experience is a stunningly accurate tribute to the music of the Eagles. Using no backing tracks or harmonizers, 7 Bridges faithfully re-creates the experience of an Eagles concert from the band’s most prolific period. 

We spent a very entertaining evening at the Circle Square Cultural Center being transported back to the 70s with all our favorite Eagles music....."Hotel California", "Take It Easy", "Desperado", "Witchy Woman"  and on and on...7 Bridges Band was great and very true to the original Eagles sound!

PODS and How it is Done...

We have heard about PODS and how easy they make a move, but this was the first time we saw PODS in action.

Our neighbors, Don and Glenda, used PODS to move items down from PA to their new home here in On Top Of The World.

One morning their POD appeared in their drive way. This is the morning that PODS picked it up.

Very interesting process and  with Don, Barbara and Dave's help the whole pickup only took about 10 mins. 

Cameron and Elise's Working Vacation in Costa Rica

Elise works for  Fluenica, a company that develops online Spanish language programs. Fluenica sent their entire staff to Costa Rica for a working vacation.  

The villa where they stayed overlooked the jungle and you can see the ocean in the distance. This was Cameron and Elise's view from "Casa Marbella".

Their final afternoon was spent ziplining....

"Master the Possibilities"... Creating a Cajun Meal

One of the big selling points of The On Top of the World Communities for Jan was their continuing education program "Master the Possibilities". I had already taken several jewelry making classes through Master the Possibilities, but this week I attended one of their newest categories of classes focusing on the world of food and cooking... 

Creating a Cajun Meal was taught by Margaret Spontak, the new director of MTP, and her husband, Vince.

 

The sold out class was delightful and delicious.... the menu included Mardi gras Salad with Shrimp Remoulade, Vince's Jambalaya and Lee Barnes New Orleans's Bread Pudding with Amaretto Sauce

Photos above and below are of Lee Barnes' traditional Bread Pudding and Amaretto Sauce. Lee Barnes established and ran a Cooking School and Gourmet Shop in New Orleans from 1977-86. Lee is credited with saving many traditional New Orleans dishes though her teaching and cookbooks.

Golf Demo Day at Candler Hills Golf Course at OTOW

Jean and Gerry's Visit

Jan's sister, Jean, and husband, Gerry, stopped for a visit to see our new digs.  Jean and Gerry are heading to an FMCA rally in Sarasota, FL, next week. They stopped long enough for us to have a nice visit and to take them to lunch at the Candler Hills Golf Course restaurant. 

During our tour of "On Top of the World" we took them by the R/C Flying Field. Gerry had done all kinds of flying over the years and figured he would interested in some small airplane flying as a hobby. OTOW is one of the few 55+ communities to offer this type of  recreation facility. 

We met a 2nd day for lunch at Pavarotti's over in Dunnellon, FL.  Above Jean and Gerry make their "entrance"!! 

Thanks, Gerry and Jean, for a great meal.  As you can see, we all went home with food for the next few meals...

Gutters for the New Ocala House

We are getting pretty well settled in our new Ocala home, so getting gutters on the front and back was one of our last projects for this move in year.

The guys with Jody Wilson Construction did great job.
