Rocky Mountain NP and Grand Lake, CO... Snow in August

Kari and Curtis came up for a visit and ventured into Rocky Mountain NP on a rainy day????

or should we say snowy day at the top of Trail Ridge Road...blizzard and plowing has started early!

Curtis was put in charge of cooking in the rain....

Daven Haven Steakhouse Dinner

On Wednesday evenings Daven Haven has an all you can eat shrimp dinner, which we decided to use as our August celebration dinner.....Ted's birthday, Heidi's birthday, Ted and Jan's anniversary and Kim and John's anniversary.

Everyone went for shrimp, except Jan, who had to try the French Onion Soup...delicious! 

Moose Sightings and Other Animals at Elk Creek Campground....

Moose in all shapes and sizes have been visiting our campsite..

Stella Mae

Over the weekend Stella was introduced to her "Baby Doorway Jumper".

The jumper was a gift from Stella's Nuncle Cameron(uncle).  From the smiles looks like it is a big hit!

High Country Stampede Rodeo in Frasier, CO

What away to spend a Saturday night in Grand County...this event is in it's 31st season! 

Grab your cowboy hat and come on down Saturday evenings in July and August.

We had to give the "Cow Pies" a try....delicious!

Kari and Curtis Visit Grand Lake

Last Sunday Kari and Curtis made a day trip from Denver to visit us at Elk Creek Campground.

Ted cooked us a great flat iron steak and Jan added the rest of the trimmings!

The weather was rainy, but they took a hike to Adams Falls....

Nice view of Grand Lake from the historic Grand Lake Lodge....

and they even got to see a moose!

Drive Through Rocky Mountain National Park On Trail Ridge Road

Ted snapped a few photos on our drive back to Grand Lake from Estes Park.  The Elk showed right on Que!

• The drive over to Estes Friday morning was very slow with lots of tourists seeing the sights, but the return trip was much less crowded....with the clouds rolling in and temperatures dropping.  

Lunch with Jackie at The Historic Stanley Hotel in Estes Park

Jackie drove to Estes from Longmont for a horse show and to meet Ted and I for lunch at The Stanley. Thank you, Jackie, for a wonderful time and a chance to see The Stanley again.

The Whiskey Bar is located next to the Cascades Restaurant, where we had lunch.
