Fort Clinch SP, Amelia Island, FL Campout

Entrance to Fort Clinch State Park located on the northern end of Amelia Island, at the Florida-Georgia state lines.

Our campsite for the week...with views of the water across the dunes.

Few structures in Florida boast heritage as long and intriguing as the Amelia Island Lighthouse, built in 1838. This is the state's oldest lighthouse, and it is the only one from the Territorial Period that has survived without major rebuilding.

Submarine channel dredging as seen from the campground beach.  Kings Bay, GA (Submarine base) is located just across the waterway.

Weekend Projects

Decided our open air court yard is a great spot of a propane fire pit.

Did some pricing at Lowes and a fire pit of similar size(40"x 40") was $500+ plus $79 for delivery.

Enter Amazon Prime with free shipping..... price $234.  Of course, it took us about 5 hrs to put together, but would have had that with the Lowes pit, also.

Found this recipe in a magazine while sitting at the eye Dr, so tried it out Saturday.

With all our frozen  blueberries(from last Spring's picking) this was a good recipe.

The finished product looked like the photo and wasn't bad, but with the many steps involved imagine will be a one time test.

Sholom Park Walking Tour

Sholom Park began as a vision born in the heart of Sidney Colen, developer of On Top of the World Communities, to create a source of inner peace for all who visit.

Sholom Park was designed as a place to find inner peace and to thrive in the Central Florida climate. The park requires little or no supplemental watering. Native plants are combined with cultivated ornamentals, perennials, and annuals creating a beautiful and resilient landscape. Sholom Park offers a place of natural beauty, comprised of meadows, woodland areas, added flowers and trees, as well as native wildlife for everyone to enjoy.

The walking tour of Sholom Park was sponsored by "Master the Possibilities" program at OTOW. The introduction to the park was given by Robert Colen, nephew of the founder, Sidney Colen, in the pavilion.

Paved walkways meander throughout the park, winding through mature oaks, hickories, sweet gums and long leaf pine trees.

Greg, the Sholom Park Superintendent, lead us through the many areas of the park. This photo was taken in the Labyrinth.

Sholom Park seeks to become a model of land stewardship and the preservation of open space for education and public enjoyment.

"The Atlantic City Boys" at The Circle Square Cultural Center, Ocala, FL

The Atlantic City Boys' performance is a tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. However, their musical selections encompass many other groups like: the Drifters, the Beach Boys, Foundations and even Neil Diamond.

The Atlantic City Boys are four dynamic lead singers backed up by a great seven piece band, who have wowed audiences at Las Vegas, Walt Disney World, and of course, Atlantic City!

The group has non stop energy, is very audience friendly and really seem to be enjoying themselves. So you really want to sing along to all the familiar songs of the 50s  and  60s!
